He Had Big Plans For My 80th Birthday – Pete Edochie Mourns Alexx Ekubo

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has mourned the death of actor Alexx Ekubo, describing him as a cheerful and energetic person who left a lasting mark on Nigeria’s movie industry.

Naija News reports that Edochie who spoke in an interview with PM News reflected on the memories they shared and the plans Ekubo had made before his death.

The veteran actor said he met Ekubo only three times, but each meeting remained fresh in his mind because of the late actor’s warm and lively nature.

He recalled one occasion when Ekubo visited him at his hotel with a cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite him to an event.

According to Edochie, the actor had also discussed plans to celebrate his 80th birthday next year, but those plans will no longer happen because of his passing.

Edochie also spoke about actor IK Ogbonna, saying he stood by Ekubo as a loyal friend during his lifetime and continued to show that loyalty after his death.

He said: “Alexx Ekubo came, he saw, and he left an indelible impression. I met him three times. On the first occasion, he arrived at my hotel with a big cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite me to an event. I was told he had big plans for my 80th birthday celebration next year, but unfortunately, he is gone. IK Ogbonna proved himself a true friend, both in life and in death.”
