Yomi Casual’s Wife Reveals How Her Husband Dressed Alex Ekubo For Burial
Grace Makun, wife of celebrity fashion designer, Yomi Casual, has opened up about the emotional burden her husband carried while preparing the burial outfit for his late friend, actor Alex Ekubo.
Naija News had earlier reported that Ekubo was buried on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Arochukwu, Abia State.
In an Instagram Story posted on Thursday, Grace described the assignment as one of the most difficult moments of Yomi’s career.
Grace recalled the usual banter between Yomi and Ekubo whenever the designer completed an outfit for the actor.
According to her, Yomi would inform Ekubo that his clothes were ready for fitting, after which the actor would promise to visit the office, followed by friendly jokes and insults.
This time, however, there was no response.
“Typical yomi and Alex conversation Yomi: ore how far, your cloth don ready Alex: ore I Dey come office come fit my cloth. Plenty insults follows. Few days ago Yomi: ore your cloth is ready Alex: no response Yomi, goes to funeral home to give his friend his final resting well tailored suit. Omoooooooo,” she wrote.
Grace said the silence marked a painful reality for her husband, who later took the finished suit to the funeral home to dress his friend for the last time.
She said Yomi had struggled with the loss, especially in the past month and during the final week before the burial.
Grace questioned how her husband was expected to heal from such an experience, describing the task as the hardest job he had ever done.
“Alex how do expect yomi should heal from this loss !!! This is the hardest job he has ever done ore No this isn’t ok at all,” she wrote.
She added that Yomi worked tirelessly to ensure the suit met Ekubo’s standard, repeatedly saying the actor would have been upset if the outfit did not come out well.
“Oko mi …. @yomicasual This past month, especially this week has been the hardest for you. Alex is proud of you and wouldn’t have had anyone dress him up, your quest for perfection, going up and about making sure it comes exactly how he would have wanted, you kept on saying to me ‘babe Alex go vex for me if that suit no come out well,’” Grace added.
Grace noted that despite his grief, Yomi insisted on overseeing every detail to honour his late friend’s taste and personality.
She said her husband eventually found some closure after seeing Ekubo look dapper in the suit one final time.
“You finally felt that sense of honour to see him looking so dapper in that suit one last time, even with so much pain and grief in your eyes,” she wrote.
Praising his strength, Grace added, “Oh my yomi!!! You did it, I’m proud of your strength and courage we love you soooo much ore.
“This pain can never go away. Rest in power oreeeee.”
