Emir Sanusi Suspends Kano Village Head
The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has suspended the Village Head of Rikadawa, Malam Rabi’u Yusuf.
Naija News reports that he was suspended over allegations that he was involved in the unlawful sale of farmland in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
The decision was announced during a hearing conducted by the Kano Emirate Council on Wednesday.
The suspension was conveyed through the District Head of Kano, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Ahmad Matawalle, and the Waziri of Kano, Alhaji Sa’ad Shehu Gidado.
The matter reached the Emirate Council after complaints were lodged against the village head and Isah Dahiru, who is the son of a district head.
Both men were accused of taking part in the sale of farmland said to belong to the late District Head of Madobi, Alhaji Sale Musa Kwankwaso, without obtaining his approval.
According to findings presented before the council, the village head was linked to the disputed transaction.
Emirate officials said the alleged act went against the responsibility and confidence placed in traditional rulers by the Kano Emirate.
One of the complainants, Muddasir Dahiru, told the council that he decided to file a petition after learning that portions of the farmland had allegedly been sold to him by the district head’s son and the village head without the consent of the rightful owner.
The Emirate Council said its investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
