Kano Lawmaker Dumps NDC, Returns To APC
A member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Makoda State Constituency, Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, has left the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija News reports that the lawmaker announced his return to the ruling party during a visit to the residence of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, in Abuja on Monday.
Tomas was accompanied by the chairman of Makoda Local Government Area, Isa Currency, and the chairman of Dambatta Local Government Area, Jamilu Abubakar Dambatta.
Barau welcomed the lawmaker back into the APC and described the move as an important development in Kano politics as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the senator, Tomas’ decision to return to the APC shows his belief in the party’s direction and its plans for governance.
He said the lawmaker’s return would help strengthen the party’s structure in Kano North Senatorial District and other parts of Kano State.
The Deputy Senate President also assured the returning lawmaker that he would enjoy the same opportunities available to other members of the party.
He called on APC members across the state to remain united and work together as preparations for future elections continue.
Barau said the party would continue its efforts toward strengthening its presence in Kano North, Kano State and across the country, adding that cooperation among members would remain important to achieving its goals.
