Arne Slot Bids Emotional Farewell To Liverpool After Exit
Former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has penned an emotional farewell message to supporters after he departed from the club, saying he leaves Anfield convinced the Reds will remain among Europe’s top sides.
Slot was dismissed on Saturday after a turbulent second season in charge. The Dutchman exits just a year after guiding Liverpool to their 20th Premier League title in his debut campaign.
In an open letter published by the Liverpool Echo, Arne Slot reflected on his time at Anfield and thanked supporters for their unwavering backing.
“I leave with complete confidence in what lies ahead. The players who have given so much to this club, who have upheld its values and helped create so many unforgettable moments, have built foundations that will endure,” Slot wrote.
The 47-year-old arrived with high expectations and delivered immediate success by leading Liverpool to the league crown. However, the following campaign proved more difficult, with inconsistent performances and disappointing results across competitions.
Despite the setbacks, Slot pointed to Champions League qualification as a significant achievement.
“Securing Champions League football was an important responsibility and one that ensures Liverpool can continue competing at the highest level next season and beyond,” he said.
The former Feyenoord manager also spoke warmly about his bond with supporters and the unique atmosphere surrounding the club.
“When I first stood beneath that sign in the Anfield tunnel, I knew what this club demanded. I leave knowing we never stopped striving for it,” he said.
Slot described Liverpool’s title-winning celebrations with fans as one of the most memorable experiences of his career.
“It was made even more meaningful because you got to enjoy it with us. Singing our songs, cheering the goals. And on the day we lifted the trophy, you were there,” he said.
He also praised the solidarity shown by supporters during difficult moments, including the death of former Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
“The love, compassion and support shown by the Liverpool family was extraordinary,” he said. “The connection we share goes beyond football.”
Concluding his message, Slot expressed pride in the club’s recent achievements and confidence in its future.
“Liverpool’s 20th league title belongs to all of us and it will remain an important chapter in its history. Change is part of football, but I know that this club will continue to make its people proud,” he added.
