NFF Inaugurates Electoral Committees Ahead Of September Elections
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will inaugurate its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, formally kicking off preparations for the federation’s Executive Committee elections set for September 26, 2026, in Lafia.
The ceremony will take place at the federation’s secretariat in Abuja and will be presided over by NFF president Ibrahim Gusau. The event signals the start of the committees’ responsibilities in organising and supervising the electoral process in line with the federation’s statutes.
The 12 officials named to serve on the two committees were approved during an extraordinary general assembly held in Yenagoa on March 23, 2026.
Those appointed include Barr Matthew Burkala, SAN; Hon. Justice Aneke; Emmanuel Obafemi; Babagoni Grema; Barr Benjamin Sak; Mallam Musa; Prof. Abdulmalik Awwal; Arinze Anughere, Esq; Hon. Akogun Omole; Abayomi Omoyimi, Esq; Ayibaye Temedie, Esq; and Ayi Ukpayam.
Seven members will make up the Electoral Committee, comprising a chairperson, vice chairperson, three members and two alternates. The Electoral Appeals Committee will consist of five officials, including three full members and two alternates.
The Electoral Committee is mandated to supervise the entire electoral process in line with the NFF Electoral Code. Its duties cover the organisation, conduct and oversight of the elections during the NFF Congress, with emphasis on transparency, fairness and compliance with regulatory provisions.
