Gunmen Abduct 12-Year-Old Student In Ibadan
Armed men have kidnapped a 12-year-old girl in the Orita Challenge area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Naija News reports that the girl, who attends a private secondary school in the area, was taken on Wednesday morning, February 12, 2026, around 7:20 a.m.
She was reportedly seized near the school gate while getting down from the vehicle that brought her to school.
As of the time this report was filed, the attackers had not reached out to the family or made any ransom demand.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka.
He said the case was reported to the police in the early hours of Wednesday after the child was taken by unknown armed men at a junction close to the school premises.
According to the police, officers moved to the scene shortly after receiving the report.
Detectives began an initial assessment and started gathering facts about what happened.
People who witnessed the incident were identified and questioned, and their accounts are helping the ongoing investigation.
The police also said the girl’s parents have been contacted and are working closely with the command as efforts continue to rescue the child safely.
The Commissioner of Police has ordered a full investigation into the matter.
The command said all possible steps are being taken to find out how the incident happened and to arrest those behind it.
