Egypt Vow To Beat Super Eagles Of Nigeria In AFCON 2025 Third-Place Match

Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has made it clear that his team is determined to secure a podium finish in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they prepare to face Nigeria in the third-place clash on Saturday.

The Pharaohs will take on the Super Eagles at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time.

Following their narrow 1-0 defeat to Senegal in Tuesday’s semi-final, Egypt are eager to end their campaign on a high note. Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Hassan emphasised the team’s focus.

“We will fight for victory tomorrow to get on the podium and close the AFCON on a positive note,” the veteran coach said.

Egypt winger Mahmoud Hassan, popularly known as Trezeguet, echoed his coach’s determination, insisting that the Pharaohs are ready to go head-to-head with the Super Eagles.

“Nigeria has a good team with great players but we are fully focused on winning and finishing the AFCON with a positive result,” Trezeguet stated.

Naija News reports that the Pharaohs of Egypt defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria 1-0 in a friendly game days before the ongoing tournament.

While Nigeria and Egypt battle for third place, the hosts, Morocco, will face Senegal in the final at 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 18.
