AFCON 2025: Sunday Oliseh Names Two Countries That Have Impressed Him In Morocco
Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has singled out Nigeria and Sudan as the two teams that have caught his eye at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Sunday Oliseh shared his thoughts during a recent episode of Global Football Insights, praising the commitment and fight shown by both sides as the tournament gathers momentum.
The former Juventus midfielder made no secret of his admiration for the Super Eagles, who have already booked their place in the knockout phase, but reserved special words for Sudan’s resilience.
“Of course, Super Eagles is the team I am fully behind that has impressed me, but the team that has also impressed me are the Sudanese,” Oliseh said.
“This is a nation [Sudan] that is currently going through civil war, and when I see the way these boys are fighting and to be able to have milked out a victory most recently is totally in principle.”
Nigeria have been one of the most assured teams in the group stage and are already through to the Round of 16 at the 2025 AFCON. They will round off their Group C campaign against Uganda at 5 p.m. later today, December 30.
Sudan, meanwhile, find themselves in third place in Group E with three points from two matches. Their fate will be decided on Wednesday when they face Burkina Faso in a decisive final group fixture.
