Olise Made The Right Call Rejecting Chelsea For Bayern Munich – Micah Richards
Former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards, has praised Bayern Munich winger, Michael Olise, for rejecting a move to Chelsea and securing a switch to the Bundesliga giants.
Richards commended the 23-year-old for making what he described as a career-defining decision, saying Olise has grown immensely since joining Bayern in 2024.
“He has taken his game to the next level,” Richards said, as quoted by OneFootball.
Bayern Munich beat Chelsea to the signing of Olise in 2024, despite strong interest from the London club. After missing out on the French winger, Chelsea went on a spree, signing Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho, and Estevao to strengthen their attack.
Richards noted that Olise made the smarter choice by opting for Bayern.
“What a move that was for him. Because if he had gone to City, he might not have played as much as he would have liked,” he said.
The former England international added that Chelsea’s heavy competition for attacking spots might have limited Olise’s progress.
“Maybe even if he went to Chelsea at the time with the wingers that they have for the competition,” Richards explained.
Richards highlighted that Olise has immediately cemented his place in Bayern Munich’s starting lineup a remarkable feat at a club known for its high standards.
“He’s gone straight into Bayern Munich and played. He is the main man there, which is crazy for Bayern Munich,” he said.
Olise’s performances since joining have drawn widespread praise, with many analysts describing him as one of Bayern’s most influential players this season.
