Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has withdrawn from the Super Eagles’ 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Maduka Okoye’s exit from the Super Eagles squad has made room for Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie.

Okoye was last called up to the national team for the Super Eagles’ friendlies against Mozambique and Saudi Arabia last month.

He was invited to the November games, but when the Super Eagles camp opened in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, on Monday, November 13, it was confirmed that the goalkeeper had withdrawn from the qualifications.

Okoye’s replacement, Obasogie, who was invited to join the national team on Monday, is expected in Uyo later today, November 14.

He and Ojo Olorunleke, the goalie for Enyimba, are the other two NPFL players on the team.

Meanwhile, a few early call-ups, including Real Sociedad’s Sadiq Umar, Kenneth Omeruo, and Jamilu Collins, have reported to the Super Eagles training camp in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, on Monday.

The Eagles will commence their push to qualify for the 2026 World Cup by playing Lesotho at Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Thursday. The game will kick off at 5 p.m.

Afterwards, they will fly to Rwanda to take on Zimbabwe in the second 2026 World Cup qualification game. The game will kick off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 19.
