Nigeria Will Produce President Of Igbo Extraction Someday - Uzodinma

A video showing the moment the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Hope Uzodinma, was declared winner of the Imo state governorship elections by the Returning Officer, Prof. Abayomi Fashina, has emerged online.

Naija News earlier reported that the incumbent governor defeated his opponents in all Local Government Areas of the State to emerge the election winner.

The election was keenly contested between Uzodimma, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP).

Uzodimma polled 540,308, while Anyanwu scored 71,503, and Achonu garnered 64,081.

Labour Party’s Governorship Candidate, Achonu Calls For Rerun

Meanwhile, Athan Achonu has called for a rerun in the governorship election held on Saturday.

Achonu while addressing newsmen claimed that democracy is under attack.

The LP candidate, however, said the masses will resist the attack, and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to embark on a rerun of the poll.

He alleged that there were several infractions during the conduct of the election.

Achonu said, “In so many places, it is either the INEC staff refused to sign the result or refused to upload. It took the intervention of security operatives, who came here before they started uploading the results.”
