‘Was It Our Officers That Handed NLC President, Ajaero To Thugs?’ – Police Reacts To Question

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has taken to social media to reply to a man who asked if it was the police that handed the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, to thugs or not.

Naija News recalls that Ajaero disclosed that during a press conference in Abuja on Friday, he was arrested by Police operatives in Imo State.

The NLC President added that it was the Police who then handed him over to thugs who beat him severely and dragged him to the ground.

According to him, he was dragged on the ground by the thugs numbering about seven.

The social media user who expressed his displeasure for the police over the claims of the NLC President asked, “Was it the Police that handed him over to thugs or not?

“I dey shame for this Naija Police sha.”

Adejobi, in his reaction to the post on X, noted that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has waded in, adding that an investigation is ongoing on the issue.

The police spokesperson wrote, “There is no need for us to be dragging this matter like this. Let’s wait for the outcome of the investigation; I am sure many facts will be revealed.

“We don’t preempt the report of an investigation of this kind. The case has many versions and distorted claims, and one needs to be careful about it.”
