President Tinubu Inaugurates Three TETFund Projects At Ibadan Polytechnic

President Bola Tinubu has officially opened three projects that were sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

The president could not attend the event in person but was represented by the minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu.

Recall that the President had travelled to Saudi Arabia to attend the Saudi-Africa Summit in Riyadh.

Naija News understands that the projects that were inaugurated include the construction of the science faculty building for the 2017/2018 annual intervention, the faculty of business and communication studies building for the 2019 special intervention, and the faculty of financial management studies complex for the 2020 annual intervention.

The total cost of these projects amounted to N890,302,775.26.

President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s dedication to providing quality education for all through various initiatives and projects within the education sector. He also expressed his appreciation to TETFund for fulfilling its responsibility of providing financial support to Nigerian tertiary institutions.

“The Polytechnic of Ibadan has turned out very good products. So, it is not by mistake that TETFund is being generous to the Polytechnic of Ibadan,” the president said.

“Being one of the pioneer polytechnics in the country, this institution has done a commendable job in the growth of the Nigerian youth.

“It is a mother polytechnic, and it has given rise to all sorts of offspring, and it is one of the sources of academic excellence in Nigeria.”

In his address, Sonny Echono, TETFund’s executive secretary, said financing the projects was a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to providing physical infrastructure in the nation’s public tertiary institutions.

“It is our commitment at TETFund to ensure that value is obtained for funds allocated to the benefitting institutions, to aid teaching, learning and research and by implication, make them globally competitive,” he said.

Echono commended the rector and management of The Polytechnic Ibadan for executing and completing the three projects commissioned.

“With the achievement of this feat, the fund believes the projects will significantly impact the training of students while providing a conducive working environment for staff and students,” he said.
