CTA Urges Police To Arrest Election Offenders

The Center for Transparency Advocacy (CTA) has urged security personnel to arrest anyone discovered to violate election laws.

Regarding the ongoing off-season elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states, CTA Executive Director Faith Nwadishi briefed reporters about the arrangements for viewing the governorship elections in the states as mentioned above.

During the briefing, she claimed that the constitution gives security personnel the right to detain voters who have broken the law.

According to the CTA Executive Director, election violations are usually ignored by security guards.

Nwadishi claimed that since Imo has the highest voter turnout of the three states, they decided to set up their situation room for the elections there.

The centre stated that it will keep an eye on the provision of election supplies, voter and INEC official conduct, and security agencies’ collaboration.

The group asked INEC and all other relevant parties to ensure that this election surpasses the previous ones.

Also speaking , a former INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Emeka Ononamadu, also urged security personnel never to cut corners with their work.

Ononamadu declared that the elections would be valid if all participants behaved morally.
