The Spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, has accused popular social media blog Instablog of promoting same-sex marriage on social media.

Making this allegation in response to a post where Instablog posted pre-wedding pictures of two Nigerian gay lovers, Edafe accused the blog of aiding and abating same-sex marriage, which, according to him, was a crime in Nigeria.

@instablog9ja do you know promoting, aiding and abetting same sex marriage in Nigeria is an offense? Una just start this one recently,” Edafe wrote.

However, his comment has continued to spark several reactions from Nigerians. While some Nigerians were of the opinion that the police spokesman should focus on apprehending thieves and other hardened criminals, other implored the police to invite the blogger for questioning.

Charging the police to channel his energy to more vital issues @IboyiSenusi wrote “Maybe we should focus on those in certificate forgery in this country than to channel our energy to this minus cases, because it’s they’re life and then can decide what to do with it. No offense oo.”

@AnsersonJean asked the police spokesman to arrest Instablog for making such a post.

“Please arrest the poster for promoting such thing… Those guys is not from Nigeria .Let him give the reason of posting it,” he wrote

“Go and sit down Bright. These love birds are the least of our worries. Try arresting the president of Nigeria. He has criminal records in the US and did not win the 2023 presidential election,” @jeygirlie wrote.

@detayomanuel asked the police to immediately apprehend Instablog for making such a post

“You guys should stop sending warnings and do the needful. The guy has seen your post but because of the engagement they are enjoying, will not delete. Let this one be a deterrence to others They can still “instablog,” from jail,” he wrote.

@Davidspredict who agreed that same sex marriage is an offense in the country charged the police to focus on other vital issues

“An offense i agree but you didnt say anything about what i asked yesterday on disenfranchisement, certificate forgery and looting,”  he wrote

On his part  @joel_kngz advised the police against cracking down on the blogger suggesting that lgbtq might use that as an avenue to start an uprising.

“Bloggers Don start this promoting same sex thing so looooong time ago, we Don complain tire but nobody wan hear us If una no crack down on these bloggers, lgbtq will take over nigeria with their help,” he wrote.

@5000nightmares asked the police to checkmate Instablog for the king of content they post “This instablog is becoming a problem. Kpo need checkmate them over these recent yeye headlines,” he wrote.

@BLACK_SHUGA10 wondered why authorities were having difficulties identifying the face behind instablog.

“It still baffles me that all these years the authorities can’t even identify whoever is behind this blog, It’s such a shame,” he wrote.

@SarmizOfficial urged the police to arrest the people behind Instablog.

“Abeg arrest all of them, if at all we’ve never appreciated the Nigeria police for anything walai sir we go appreciate this one…. E ko everybody lor station, make dem go collect 2 portion,” he wrote.
