PDP Reacts To Adeleke’s Supreme Court Victory

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has debunked allegations of spending N400 million monthly on domestic running costs.

Naija News understands that the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, had made the claims during a meeting with party members in Osogbo.

Basiru alleged that Adeleke was influenced by his family, particularly his elder sister, Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, and raised concerns about increased state allocations without a commensurate improvement in government service delivery.

In response, Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, described the allegations as blatant falsehood, defamatory and lacking any iota of truth.

Adeleke denied drawing N400 million monthly for domestic running costs from the government coffers, insisting it was a shameful concoction from Basiru, who is still bitter about his electoral loss.

The Governor stressed that as a man of due process, he operates within the bounds of public finance regulations adding he forfeited the typical security vote to demonstrate his commitment to selfless service to the people of Osun.

He said, “We are constrained to directly deny the unfounded allegation by a defeated Senator of Osun Central , Mr Ajibola Bashiru that Governor Ademola Adeleke spent N400 million monthly on domestic running costs. If the former Senator truly uttered this blatant falsehood, it is ‘defamatory and reprehensible.’

“There is no iota of truth in the careless and ill-thought-out statement, as the Governor is not drawing any domestic running cost from the government coffers. It is a shameful concoction from a troubled mind who is still bitter about his electoral loss.

“As a man of due process, the Governor operates within the bounds of public finance regulations. He forgoes the usual security vote as a deliberate demonstration of his readiness for selfless service to Osun people. We take a strong exception to the intentional fabrication of lies against a governor whose popularity and performance rating are above 85 per cent.”
