Baba-Ahmed Should Face The Law Over His Controversial Comments - APC Chieftain

The Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed,  on Monday asserted that the Supreme Court did not affirm the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, rather, it upheld the unconstitutionality of the election.

Making this claim while speaking on Arise News on Monday night, Baba-Ahmed described the ruling of the Supreme Court that upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu as an unreasonable show of force.

“The Petition Court and the Supreme Court did not actually affirm the success of Tinubu’s presidency; they upheld the UN constitutionality of that election, and they are happy for it to remain so, and they have the power, and nobody can do anything about it. That is why we say it is an unreasonable show of force. If there was something we could do, we would stop it, but we are law-abiding citizens,” Baba-Ahmed said.

His comment came after his principal, Peter Obi, addressed a world press conference.

Naija News had earlier reported that Peter Obi, during his press conference, suggested that the Supreme Court judgement had breached citizens’ trust in the judiciary.

Recall that the Supreme Court had earlier in October struck out a petition brought by Peter Obi and Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against the election of President Bola Tinubu. The Supreme Court verdict, however, ended the series of litigations that marauded the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
