Atedo Peterside Reacts As Dattijo Accuses CJN Ariwoola Of Abuse Of Power

President and Founder of Anap Foundation, Atedo Peterside, has commended retired Justice Dattijo Muhammad for speaking out against the rot in the Judiciary.

Recall that the retired Supreme Court Justice had accused the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, of abusing the powers of his office.

Naija News reports that Justice Muhammad retired from the Supreme Court bench on Friday, having clocked the 70-year mandatory retirement age.

Speaking at a valedictory session organised in his honour by the apex court on Friday, the former judge revealed the rots in the judiciary that have continued to affect the justice delivery system in the country.

Addressing issues relating to the CJN, Muhammad maintained that the judiciary, as presently structured, gave so much power to the CJN, who he said usually makes decisions without consulting other justices.

Reacting to the development in a post on his X handle on Sunday, Peterside demanded judicial reforms by calling for equity and justice in the Supreme Court.

The businessman added that the South East and the North Central zones deserve immediate representation at the apex court.

He wrote: “Justice Dattijo Muhammad should be commended for speaking out against the rot in the Judiciary that he is exiting. Let us demand reforms by calling for equity & justice in the Supreme Court; the SE & NC Zones deserve immediate representation at the Supreme Court. Enough is Enough.”
