Kate Henshaw Responds To Critics Over Uzodinma’s Re-election Fundraising Dinner

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has shut down critics over the fundraising dinner of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

Naija News earlier reported that Uzodinma, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held a fundraising dinner on Thursday, the same day the Supreme Court affirmed President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 election and dismissed the appeals of his major contenders Peter Obi of Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kate and her colleague, Okey Bakassi, hosted the event, prompting some Nigerians to take to their social media platforms to express their displeasure.

Responding to the attacks online, the movie star, in a post via X, on Friday morning, defended her action, stressing the latest development would not stop her from speaking the truth about governance in Nigeria.

She wrote: “Someone called me this morning to check the X app. I was invited to host a fundraiser alongside my colleague. I accepted. My prerogative.

“What is the noise about? The difference btw you and I is that I will still speak my truth as I see fit. End of.”

Meanwhile, Kate Henshaw has said that the governed have every right to hold leaders accountable for their unfulfilled promises.

The thespian insisted that since the politicians offered to serve the country, then they must be ready to exhibit accountability to the people they are piloting.

Henshaw argued this is rightly so because the governed aren’t zombies, more so, they have expectations of their leaders based on their promises to them.

Speaking further, the fitness enthusiast warned politicians who are afraid of being scrutinized and coming under public criticism to stay away from political offices.
