Former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger, Eden Hazard has noted that he decided to retire from football when he could no longer enjoy his game on the pitch.

Recall that on October 10, 2023, Eden Hazard stunned the world when he announced his retirement from professional football.

The announcement of the 32-year-old Belgian winger came three months after Real Madrid mutually terminated his contract.

When Hazrad left Real Madrid on July 1, 2023, most of his fans thought he could stage a return to Chelsea or probably move to either the Major League Soccer in the United States or the Saudi Pro League.

However, Eden Hazard who has left international football since December 2022 could not get a suitable offer for the three months he stayed without a club and had to bow out of the tournament.

In an interview with L’Avenir, which was quoted by Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano earlier today, October 19, Hazard, admitted that he doesn’t like to train just like most of his teammates have alleged in the past.

The Belgium international who had 126 appearances for his country in which he scored 33 goals, also admitted that he didn’t want to play for the money which means he was probably approached by a club in the Middle East during his club-less period.

“I always said that I would stop playing as soon as I no longer had fun on the field”, Eden Hazard said.

“I didn’t want to go play somewhere for the money. I didn’t enjoy training… and I didn’t play anymore. The decision was simple”.
