Former President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the death of Hajiya Halima Ibrahim, the mother of the former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

Recall that Hajiya Ibrahim died on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 86, at her residence in Gashua town in Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.

She was, however, buried at the Gashua Central Cemetery, and an Islamic rite was performed, which was presided over by the Imam of the Gashua Central Mosque, Alhaji Ahmad Talba.

Among the dignitaries present at the burial ceremony were the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum; the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Idi Barde Gubana; and the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Mashio.

Others in attendance include Emirs and traditional leaders, Senator Babangida Hussaini (APC – Jigawa North West), Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (APC – Borno Central), Hon. Usman Zannah representing Kaga/Gubio/Magumeri Federal Constituency, and serving Commissioners with the Yobe State Government.

Reacting in a statement on Monday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, the former President extended his condolences to the ex-Senate President over the death of his mother.

The former President, according to a statement, in a telephone conversation with Lawan on Monday, recalled the simplicity and warmth of the deceased.

I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of your mother. My heartfelt condolences are with you in this intense period of grief,” the ex-president was quoted as saying.
