Aisha Rimi Assumes Office As New NIPC CEO, Makes Fresh Pledges

The newly appointed Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi, has expressed her commitment to advancing Nigeria’s economy through strategic investment promotion.

Rimi made this declaration during her inaugural address upon assuming her position at the NIPC headquarters in Abuja on Monday.

Naija News reports that Rimi is among those recently given appointments by President Bola Tinubu.

In a significant reorganization last Friday, the Nigerian leader approved the appointment of a new leadership team for 12 agencies and parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. The appointments were confirmed in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

While addressing NIPC staff upon resumption of office today, Rimi pledged to reposition the commission to attract new routes of foreign investments into Nigeria to shore up the dwindling revenue of the government and the much-needed jobs.

She also thanked the president for the privilege to contribute to the economic growth of the country.

“First, I am grateful to Mr President for this opportunity because there are over 100 million persons who could be doing this job.

“So I don’t take it lightly, and I don’t take it for granted.

“It is a task I don’t take lightly because NIPC is the gateway to Nigeria, and without a functional, operational, and efficient NIPC, investment will just amount to nothing.

“We are not just here to promote but also to facilitate, and if we succeed, Nigeria will succeed. I am too old to japa, and I can’t go anywhere,” The PUNCH quoted the NIPC boss saying.

Naija News reports that Rimi takes over from Hajja Wakil, who has served in an acting capacity.
