Off-Cycle Elections: INEC Reveals Those Who Will Have Access To Result Collation Centres

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has disclosed that he would hold a high-level meeting with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and service chiefs over the forthcoming November 11 governorship elections in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states next week Friday.

Naija News reports that the INEC Chairman stated this when speaking in Kogi State on the sideline of the mock accreditation ahead of the election, as part of efforts to test-run the technologies to be deployed for the election as well as increase voters’ confidence in the commission’s activities. The exercise was held in the three states holding elections in November.

“So far so good, in terms of assurance from the security agencies, as we can see, they are even here for the mock exercise. Friday, next week, there is going to be a high-level meeting in Abuja, chaired by myself and the National Security Adviser in which all the security chiefs will be present (no representation) to discuss the issue of security for the three states.

“So, we are on top of the situation in terms of security arrangement and security deployment,” Yakubu said.

On the mock accreditation, the INEC chairman stated that the reports from Bayelsa were impressive and he believed it would be the same story from Imo State.

The INEC chairman explained the method of accreditation and upload of election results ahead of the gubernatorial elections.

He stated, “The method is as provided by law; electronic accreditation, and electronic upload of results on the IReV portal. So please disregard whatever was reported about what the Bayelsa REC had said.

“For those registered, they should go to the IReV portal and see the result of the mock from all the three states in a few hours.”
