No Worshipper Was Kidnapped By Bandits In Zamfara Mosque - Police

Police operatives in Zamfara State have arrested two suspects allegedly responsible for the killing of a veteran journalist, Hamisu Danjibga, in the state.

The two suspects, Mansur Haruna and Ibrahim Nababa, were among the criminal suspects paraded before on Tuesday evening, October 10, 2023, at the police command headquarters in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, Naija News understands.

While addressing journalists at the command headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, said the late Danjibga, a reporter with the Voice of Nigeria, was killed by his nephew, Mansur Haruna and his friend, Ibrahim Nababa.

The police boss said operatives swung into action upon intelligence to arrest the two suspects involved in the killing of the journalist.

According to Dalijan, the prime suspect, Haruna, has confessed to the police how they struggled with Danjibga as they wanted to kidnap him and all that transpired, which led to their final decision to kill him.

The police also arrested a suspected bandit who specializes in bringing military hardware from Aba in Abia State to a bandit’s enclave in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Naija News understands.

Gunmen Kidnap Four Nasarawa University Students

In other news, some unknown gunmen have abducted at least four students from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

Naija News reports that the assailants invaded the students’ residence in Angwan Kare, a settlement within the Keffi Local Government Area, on Tuesday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the abduction to Channels Television during a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

According to Nansel, the State Police Command received a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday, reporting an attack by gunmen on a house in Angwan Kare.

“The command is aware of kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare, Keffi, was invaded by unidentified armed men,” Nansel said.

The police mouthpiece said efforts to trail the perpetrators after combing the area were unsuccessful. He, however, assured that a manhunt had been launched to rescue the students.

“The police, in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescue the victims unhurt,” Nansel said.

The victims are all first-year students of the school, identified as Rahila Hanya from Science Laboratory Technology; Josephine Gersho, Computer Science; Rosemary Samuel from Business Administration and Goodness Samuel from Geography departments, respectively.
