Atiku Reacts As Tribunal Upholds Mutfwang’s Election

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, on the affirmation of his victory at the court.

Naija News earlier reported that the Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos, the state capital, on Friday, upheld the election of the state governor.

Delivering judgement on Friday, the tribunal led by Justice R Irele-Ifineh, dismissed the petition of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Nentawe Yilwatda.

The judge held that the issues raised by the petitioner on party structure were pre-election matters, and the petitioners lacked the jurisdiction to challenge it.

The tribunal said the PDP actually held a valid congress on the 25th of September, 2021, in compliance with the order of the Jos High Court delivered by Justice S.P.Gang.

Also, the tribunal held that the issue of nomination and sponsorship of a candidate is a pre-election matter.

Reacting to the development via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Atiku stated that the leadership and commitment of the governor to the people remain unyielding.

The former Vice President asserted that the court victory is to an impactful and prosperous tenure ahead.

He wrote: “Congratulations to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, @CalebMutfwang, on the affirmation of your victory at the Plateau State Election Tribunal. Your leadership and commitment to the people remain unyielding. Here’s to an impactful and prosperous tenure ahead.”
