Peter Obi Is A Social Media Issue, Not Better Than President Tinubu – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, as a “social media issue”.

Speaking on Wednesday during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike said the former Anambra State Governor could not have been a better president than Tinubu.

The FCT minister added that the LP flagbearer would not have handled the major issues confronting the Nigerian economy better than Tinubu if he had been elected.

The former Governor of Rivers State said if Obi were a better presidential candidate, Nigerians would have voted for him in the February 25, 2023 election.

Speaking further, Wike said he doesn’t discuss presidential candidates any longer but how to improve the economy and what the President has to offer Nigerians.

He said: “I don’t want to discuss social media issues.

“I don’t discuss about presidential candidate any longer; I discuss about the economy, the President, what he has to offer.

“If he (Obi) would have been better, Nigerians would have voted for him.”

Wike said he supported Tinubu at the expense of the presidential candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the keenly contested poll.

He spoke against the background of the crisis that rocked the PDP ahead of the 2023 presidential election in which he and some others, popularly known as the G5 Governors, worked against Atiku.

Meanwhile, Wike has dared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend him as a member of the party.

He also added that no one in the PDP can discipline him; rather, he should be the one to discipline those who violated the party’s constitution on rotation.

However, speaking on Wednesday during an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, Wike declared that the PDP can’t suspend him from the party.

He also mocked the PDP leadership, saying the person who wanted to suspend him couldn’t produce a Governor or three Senators or Assembly members in his state while he gave the PDP the Governorship seat, State Assembly members, as well as National Assembly members in Rivers State.
