Gabon Coup: Bags Of Money Uncovered At Ali Bongo's Family Residence [Video]

An old video of the deposed President of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba saying that he does not believe in term limit has surfaced.

Recall that military officers in Gabon had announced that they had seized power on Wednesday, placing President Ali Bongo under house arrest and naming a new leader.

The officers declared on television that the election results were cancelled, borders closed and state institutions dissolved, after a tense vote that was set to extend the Bongo family’s more than half a century in power.

Within hours, generals met to discuss who would lead the transition and agreed by unanimous vote to appoint General Brice Oligui Nguema, former head of the presidential guard.

An old video shared by Daniel Bwala, a former aide to Atiku Abubakar, has shown the moment Bongo stated categorically that he does not believe that there should be term limit for political leaders.

Bongo insisted that for a leader to properly carry out his agenda, he has to have enough time in power without worrying about his re-election.

Captioning the video, Bwala wrote, “Listen to the Olodo here: He said he doesn’t  believe in TIME LIMIT for presidents in power. In other words you can govern forever. He and his father governed for a total of 47 or so years in Gabon. Small country with enormous mineral resources; YET his people in abject poverty. Oloshi oloburuku.”
