A notable public affairs commentator, Dr Austin Maho has reacted to the plan of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike to demolish houses on the wrong path in Abuja.

Recall that Wike on Monday while addressing newsmen after his inauguration as minister promised to demolish houses in Abuja.

Maho in his reaction to Wike’s statement noted that the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai did the same thing when he was FCT minister.

He further stated that El-Rufai took down his (Maho) house to uphold the Abuja master plan.

Maho explained that he was not pained because El-Rufai also demolished the house of a serving minister of defence at the time.

Speaking during a program on AIT News, Maho also likened El-Rufai’s attitude approach to that of Wike who promised to demolish constructions on designated green areas.

Maho said, “The regions designated as green zones by El-Rufai have now transformed into active development areas across Abuja.

“So, when Nyesom Wike steps into his role and declares his intention to rectify the Abuja master plan, promising to dismantle any structures erected on these green zones, irrespective of the owner’s status, that was the attitude of El-Rufai.

“I suffered a property demolition under El-Rufai but I was not pained. Do you know why I was not pained? As he was demolishing my house, he was equally demolishing the house of a serving minister of defence so you make a law and it cuts across.”
