NFF Reacts As Super Falcons Crash Out Of World Cup

The House of Representatives Committee on Sports is looking into Nigeria Football Federation’s alleged failure to pay the Super Falcons and players of other national teams.

On Wednesday, August 16, the representatives of the NFF met with the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Ekene Abubakar, over the lingering unpaid bonuses of the country’s national teams players.

At the meeting, the committee and the NFF agreed to work together to find a solution to the lingering scandal.

In regards to the Super Falcons who recently represented Nigeria at the 2023 Women’s World Cup where they finished in the round of 16, the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau told the committee that the players would receive their wages as soon as the federation received funds from FIFA.

Aside from the lingering unpaid entitlements of national teams players, the committee also waded into the crisis in the Plateau FA and Nasarawa FA which led to the NFF setting up a Normalization Committee for the two state FAs.

Honourable Ekene Abubakar said, “What we are simply saying following the petitions received from the two FA’s is that the NFF should go back to their statutes to restore peace and order in Nigeria football”.

Oh his part, Gusau assured the committee that all problems, including the State FA elections, will be rectified in three weeks.
