Veteran Journalist, Mato Adamu Is Dead

Renowned journalist and former broadcaster with the BBC Hausa Service, Mato Adamu, has reportedly died.

Reports obtained by Naija News revealed that the veteran journalist died on Friday evening at the Specialists Hospital, Gombe, after a brief illness.

Adamu died at the age of 60. The deceased was an indigene of the Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

This news platform understands, however, that the late Adamu was based in Gombe State, where he worked as a media consultant.

After he left the BBC, he worked as a freelance journalist with several international media organisations, including Reuters.

Adamu also served as the state Director National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Gombe State. He briefly served as Chief Media Consultant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State during the governor’s first tenure.

His funeral prayer was slated for Saturday by 11 am at the Specialists Hospital, Gombe.

The deceased is survived by one wife and children.
