Atiku Sends Message To Governor Adeleke On His 63th Birthday

Some chieftains and eminent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have arrived in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the party’s stakeholders’ meeting.

Naija News reports that the crucial meeting is taking place at the lodge of the Bauchi State Governor in Asokoro, Abuja.

Some PDP chieftains that have arrived for the meeting include the 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed; Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, and Kefas Agbu of Taraba State, among others.

The meeting is coming on the heels of a similar one which was held a fortnight ago at the Abuja residence of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tom Ikimi.

Members of the party’s National Working Committee, National Assembly Caucus members, and representatives of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) are expected at the meeting.

However, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Rivers counterpart, Siminalayi Fubara, were absent at the meeting.

Although no reason was given for Fubara’s absence, a party source told The Punch that the governor is still playing the loyalty card to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

The party chieftain said the governor failed to attend the meeting having been advised by Wike not to shoulder the party’s financial responsibilities.

The source said: “The Rivers Governor didn’t give a reason for his absence but his political mentor and the former Governor of the State, Nyesom Wike has not mended fences with the PDP and is unlikely to do so.

“This perhaps explained why he was away. He (Fubara) was said to have been advised by Wike not to spend money on the party like he (Wike) did while he was in power.”
