BREAKING: AU Suspends Niger Republic, Call For President Bazoum's Release

Niger Republic military coup leaders on Friday lifted the curfew they imposed after taking power from elected president, Mohamud Bazoum, on July 26, plunging the country into crisis.

“The curfew imposed since July 26, 2023, is officially lifted as of today,” according to a decree dated late Thursday and signed by coup leader Abdourahamane Tiani.

Naija News reports that this is coming hours after the military junta in Niger, led by General Abdourahmane Tchiani, announced the end of the mandates of ambassadors to four countries.
