A Federal High Court judge, Justice Peter Mallong, is dead, Naija News reports.

In a statement Monday morning, the FHC Chief Registar, Hassan Amida Sulaiman, said Mallong died on Sunday after a brief illness in Abuja.

The statement reads: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of our own, Hon Justice Peter Hoommuk Mallong, a judge of the Federal High Court, who passed away on Sunday unexpectedly after a brief illness in Abuja.

“We will miss him more than words can express. Funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public in due time.”

Supreme Court Justice Nweze Dies

The Supreme Court of Nigeria judge, Justice Chima Centus Nweze, has died.

According to Daily Post, Justice Nweze passed away on Sunday night at the age of 64.

The Supreme Court has yet to issue an official statement as of Monday morning, when the incident was reported.

Recall that Justice Nwaeze presided over and, in a dissenting judgement in 2020, declared Emeka Ihedioha of the People Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the 2019 Governorship election in Imo State.

Also, in a split judgement of three against two, Nweze delivered the controversial judgement of the Supreme Court, which declared then Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for Yobe North Senatorial District for the 25 February general election.
