NDLEA Operatives

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have reportedly killed two persons during a raid in Lagos State last night.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Thursday revealed that the agency was raiding the Idioro area of Mushin on Wednesday night when they fired at two persons.

The NDLEA operatives stormed the community around 10 pm yesterday to raid a drug den when they started shooting sporadically in a bid to achieve their aim.

Unfortunately, bullets reportedly hit two people during the sporadic shooting allegedly aimed at scaring hoodlums attempting to scuttle their plan in the community.

TheCable quoted a resident, Olasunkanmi, as saying that the NDLEA operatives shot at one Gafar Yusuf during the sporadic shooting within a residential area, adding that the bullets hit the victim in the head while a yet-to-be-identified victim was also shot in the chest.

He noted that the victims died on the spot, adding that people in the community had been enraged by the development.

“We are not saying the NDLEA should not do their job, but why will its operatives be shooting anyhow in a residential area? The NDLEA operatives invaded a drug den in the community around 10 pm and started seizing illicit drugs, which is OK.

“The operatives were about 50 in number, and most of them were armed. While some wore the official uniform, others were dressed in casual wear. The people dealing in the drug business were enraged by the raid and started threatening to make trouble,” Olasunkanmi said.
