Political commentator and activist, Dele Farotimi has voiced his doubts on President Bola Tinubu’s willingness to appoint capable ministers for Nigeria.

In an interview with 90Minutes Africa last Sunday, Farotimi criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the party members “do not have the interest of the country at heart.”

The past few days have seen a heated discussion on the delay in submitting the ministerial list to the Senate for screening.

According to the 60-day constitutional timeframe, President Tinubu has until Friday, July 28, to submit the list.

Farotimi, who is also a lawyer, responded to the delay by stating that the anticipated list from Tinubu would not alter Nigeria’s prospects.

He said, “They (the ruling class) don’t have their houses in Nigeria, they hop on the plane and fly abroad to see their doctors when they have a common cold and their children don’t even go to school in Nigeria.

“What is it about the APC and the Nigerian political ‘ruiners’ as a collective that would inspire anybody into believing that the worst that could come from the Nigerian president is to appoint those who will lift the people he has helped to enslave out of their enslavement.

“Some of us knew from the beginning that Tinubu would be bad for the country. We warned everyone and people listened.

“They fought to make sure that he did not emerge but he proceeded to force himself into the office and is proceeding to corrupt every strata of the society.

“Peter Obi has awakened the people to understand the power that they possess. What we do with that power going forward is entirely on us.”
