Atiku Confirms Boko Haram Attack On His Residence, Reveals Number Of Suspects Arrested

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has confirmed an attack on his Yola residence by suspected member of Boko Haram.

Naija News earlier reported that former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, claimed that a terrorist invaded Atiku’s residence on his Twitter handle on Monday.

According to Omokri, the attack, which happened on Sunday night, was a threat to the life of the former Vice President and called on the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to investigate the incident thoroughly.

In a statement by his media office on Monday, Atiku confirmed that the police have arrest four suspects in the plot to attack his residence.

Tribunal Sacks LP Reps Member, Okolie

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba, Delta State, has invalidated the election of Labour Party’s Ngozi Okolie as the representative for the Aniocha/Oshimili Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The tribunal ruled on Monday that Okolie had not been a member of the Labour Party by May 28, 2022, the date of the primary election, and thus, he was not properly sponsored by the party.

As a result, the tribunal declared the runner-up in the February 25, 2023 National Assembly election, Ndudi Elumelu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner.

IGP Insists On Withdrawal Of Police Mobile Force Personnel From VIPs

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has maintained that there is no going back on its decision to withdraw Police Mobile Force personnel from VIPs.

Naija News reports that the IGP was reacting to recent news about the possible reversal of the PMF reform policy and his decision to withdraw Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel from certain important personalities.

In a statement to Naija News on Monday, Force spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, clarified that the decision to withdraw the PMF personnel from escort and guard duties stands firm, and “there will be no going back on this critical policy change.”

LP Condemns President Tinubu Over Move To Stop Peter Obi From Contesting In Possible Rerun

The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (LP-PCC) has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is urging the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) to disqualify their candidate, Peter Obi, in anticipation of a potential rerun.

In a statement issued by the head of media for the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, Diran Onifade, the Labour Party has suggested that the All Progressives Congress (APC), under Tinubu’s leadership, is resorting to “desperate measures to undermine Obi’s image”.

Onifade said, “Obi-Datti Media office has noted how a worried ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and its Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu are even wishing and pleading with the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal PEPC to consider pairing them with ATIKU Abubakar of the PDP instead of Obi”

Tinubu To Confirm NEC Date To Ratify Ganduje, Basiru Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to confirm the date of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the request of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The NEC will reportedly ratify the choice of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as national chairman and Senator Ajibola Basiru as national secretary at its next meeting.

According to The Nation, the NWC, NEC, and the governors agreed that there should be a smooth transition and continuity of the pre-existing zoning formula for the composition of the party leadership.

Recall that Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore had resigned as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.

Following their resignation, the North-Central zone of the ruling party has demanded the region retain the National Chairmanship position.

But Ganduje, who is from the North-West zone, has been visiting prominent party members to solicit support for his ambition.

NAFDAC Warns Against ‘Unwholesome’ Mayonnaise Brand, Whippy

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted Nigerians to the sale of an unsafe mayonnaise brand named Whippy.

In a statement released on Monday and signed by NAFDAC Director-General Mojisola Adeyeye, the agency shared that the discovery of the product followed a consumer complaint received by its post-marketing surveillance unit in Ilorin, Kwara state.

During the investigation, Adeyeye noted, the product was traced back to its local source, SNF FOODS Limited, in Onitsha, Anambra.

Lagos Govt Not Telling Absolute Truth About EndSARS – Ogunlana

The lead counsel for Endsars petitioners, Adeshina Ogunlana, has voiced his disagreement with the Lagos State Government’s stance on a leaked memo approving the mass burial of 103 EndSARS victims.

The memo, which surfaced on social media on Sunday, suggested that the state government had approved N61,285,000 for the mass burial of 103 individuals identified as victims of the 2020 EndSARS protests, causing significant public outcry.

In response to the leaked memo, the Lagos State Government clarified that those scheduled for the mass burial were not victims of the infamous Lekki Tollgate shooting.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Ogunlana criticized the state government’s explanation, stating it was being “clever by half.”
