The Tin-Can Island Port of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) has confirmed that no life was lost at the fire that raised the side at the Port and Cargo Terminal on Thursday.

Naija News understands that the Public Relations Officer of the Port, Mr. Shola Adesanwo confirmed the fire incident on Friday.

This platform earlier reported that a video showing terminal ‘C’ managed by Port and Cargo Limited at the Tin-Can Island of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) up in flames, with cargoes worth millions of Naira being destroyed, surfaced on the internet.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday, July 20th.

Although details on the cause of the fire mishap are still sketchy, it was gathered that emergency responders appeared at the scene to battle the fire.

Adesanwo told Vanguard that the fire started from a tyre of the gantry crane, noting that firefighters put off the inferno before it could spread up to the crane.

He disclosed that he was still waiting to gather more details from the fire service department of the agency before he issued an official statement.

Efforts to reach the management of Port and Cargo by the platform were futile as calls and messages made to their phones were neither answered nor returned.
