Detained renowned investigative journalist, David Hundeyin has been release from the Zimbabwean international airport detention.

Naija News reports that Hundeyin on Wednesday night disclosed in a series of post on his verified Twitter handle that he was detained at Harare Airport for nearly 7 hours.

According to the Journalist, the Zimbabwean authorities had detained him for traveling without a visa despite using the travel document of a country with a visa- free relationship.

However, in the new update, Hundeyin, who looked stressed from sitting in detention for hours, announced that he was freed and escorted to the boarding gate for his flight back.

Sharing photo of himself at the Zimbabwean airport, the journalist tweeted; “Being escorted to the boarding gate for my flight now. The Ugandan lady appears to be getting sent back to Addis. I’m not sure why. She is visibly upset. Feel very helpless in all this.”

In another post, he wrote: “Landed. Safe and well. I was untouched and harmed. Battery is nearly dead. Will update when i reach my secondary destination.”
