Umeh Speaks On Emergence Of Senate Principal Officers

The lawmaker representing Anambra Central senatorial district, Senator Victor Umeh stated on Thursday that the Senate has not received a ministerial list reportedly sent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This counters media reports claiming the Senate has been deliberating over the list.

Umeh while addressing newsmen after plenary on Thursday highlighted that the Senate couldn’t discuss the ministerial list during its private meeting as they had not yet received it.

This statement follows recent reports about the Senate going into a closed-door meeting to discuss the ministerial list supposedly sent by President Tinubu.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio reportedly announced the executive session after Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central) made an announcement.

There was speculation that the meeting might be focused on the ministerial nominations from President Tinubu.

A source disclosed to Vanguard that the list was stirring up issues among the Senators, which led to the meeting.

However, despite claims that the Senate President already has the list and might read it after the meeting or the following week, Senator Umeh refuted these allegations, insisting that no list has been forwarded to the Senate.
