A family member of Kehinde Alli, the father of Dele Alli, has claimed that the out-of-favour England international was never adopted as the footballer claimed in an interview on July 13, 2023.

Recall that on the said date, an episode of The Overlap featured Dele Alli in which he revealed his difficult childhood to former England international Gary Neville.

In the interview, Alli claimed that he was sexually molested by his mother’s friend at age six, taken to Africa (Nigeria) at age seven to be disciplined, and got involved in drug trafficking at age eight.

He also claimed that he was adopted by a family since his mother who was an alcoholic couldn’t take very good care of him.

However, a family member of Dele Alli claimed that the former Tottenham Hotspur player was never adopted. The family source also claimed that when Dele Alli was brought to Nigeria, he attended one of the best schools in the country.

The family source also had a picture of Alli when he celebrated his 8th birthday At Avi-cenna International School in Ikeja, GRA Lagos.

“Dele was never adopted by anyone. At age seven, Dele attended one of the best schools in Lagos, Nigeria. He was never sent to Africa for discipline. That’s a blatant lie. He had a driver that picked him up daily from school”, the family source told OJB Sport.

“We have all the documents and pictures of Dele with his dad from when he was born as a kid. Dele has been brainwashed.”

Dele Alli who started his football career at MK Dons’ football academy before he joined Tottenham Hotspur, claimed that he was adopted by Hickford’s family.

But his mother, Denise told the Mirror in 2018 that his son was not adopted but was just hanging out with Hickford’s son Harry, who was his best friend and now his agent.

Dele Alli’s mother said: “When he was about 13 Dele began training at MK Dons five days a week. So for convenience, he began staying at his best friend’s house during the week, before coming home at weekends. It was hard to let him live away from home, but we didn’t have a car and I was finding it hard to get him to train myself.

“It has been said that I was suffering from alcoholism and I gave him up because I couldn’t look after him, but that is a lie. I wanted to give him the best chance of achieving his dream, but he was still my son and I was there for him whenever he needed me.”

To Buttress Denise’s claims, Dele’s family member who spoke with OJB Sport said: “On a particular Wednesday, Dele’s mom called Kenny that the Hickford family didn’t drop Dele as usual.

“Kenny immediately called the Hickford’s residents and they pleaded with Kenny to allow Dele to spend the night with them because they have a comfortable place and their son is good friends with Dele.

“Kenny agreed – not knowing the Hickford’s had a plan all along. Along the line, it now became every Wednesday affair. That’s how they started grooming him (Dele) for whatever they are doing.

“He was never sent to Nigeria for punishment. He said he started doing drugs at the age of eight, whereas he was in a private school in Nigeria by then.”
