Off-Cycle Elections: INEC Reveals Those Who Will Have Access To Result Collation Centres

The Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Hudu Arim has been told to recuse himself from the supplementary election slated for April 15 in the state.

Naija News reports that this is as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for him to distance himself from the re-run election in the state.

According to the PDP, Arim’s continued stay in office as INEC REC in the state despite the party’s complaint of his alleged complicity in the plot to manipulate the outcome of the state governorship election was unacceptable.

It was gathered that PDP made its position known through the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba in Abuja at a press briefing.

He said there was no justification for Arim’s continued stay as INEC REC in the state considering the allegations except if his continuous stay is for a canny reason.

Ologunagba submitted that “In view of grave allegations and evidence of an audio tape already in the public domain, Ari should recuse himself immediately from superintending and/or conducting the re-run governorship election in Adamawa on April 15.

“The PDP demands that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu immediately remove Ari as REC in Adamawa.

“On our part, the PDP restates that it is firmly on the ground in the state.
“Our party and candidate, Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri are in clear lead and we are ready for the re-run election in the 69 Polling Units already announced by the INEC returning officer.”

He, therefore, called on PDP supporters in the state to remain calm.

It would be recalled that the electoral commision fixed April 15 for a supplementary election in Adamawa after declaring the March 18 governorship elections in the state inconclusive.

Ahmed Fintiri, the current governor of the state from the PDP had scored 421,524 votes against Aishatu Dahiru of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate with 390, 275.
