Again, Rainstorm Recks Schools, Houses, Properties In Ondo

A heavy rainstorm in parts of Ondo State has left residents in lamentation after it destroyed their houses, shops and properties, reportedly worth millions of Naira.

Naija News learnt that the tragic event happened on Tuesday after a heavy downpour in parts of Akure, the Ondo State capital and some other towns in the state.

The event is coming a few days after a similar incident happened in the Ilara Mokin community, Ifedore Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that some of the areas in Akure affected by the rainstorm include, Danjuma, Ayedun, High school, and Leo Area.

Electric poles, a maternity centre and a church in Ore town in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state were also affected by the rainstorm.

Naija News understands, however, no life was reportedly lost in the incident. Residents in the affected areas have since called on the federal and state governments to assist them.

Speaking with The PUNCH, one of the victims, Musa Kadijat, described the incident as a calamity for herself and her tenants, appealing to the government for possible assistance.

“A network mast of an old generational bank fell on our roof and destroyed it. All my tenants cannot sleep in their rooms because of the rain,” she said.

Also, one Samson Olayemi noted that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed. “I don’t know what to say than to appeal to the state and federal governments to help , the loss is too much for me to bear. I need assistance,” he appealed.
