What Peter Obi, Atiku, Others Should Do After Losing Elections - Yakasai

An elder statesman,  Tanko Yakasai, has advised candidates who lost in the just-concluded presidential and National Assembly elections to seek redress in court if they are not satisfied with the outcome.

The renowned politician asked the aggrieved candidates to challenge the results of the elections in court rather than embark on protests that will lead to chaos in the country.

Speaking in a chat with The PUNCH, Yakasai admonished political parties and politicians to ensure that the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections are peaceful, free, fair, and credible.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the conduct of the just-concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.

Yakasai also urged the electoral body to use the conduct of the governorship elections to address the challenges encountered in the February 25 elections.

Okowa Reveals Reasons Obi Won South-South, South-East

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, won in some states in the South-South and South-East regions in the February 25 poll because of some germane factors.

Naija News reports that the LP flagbearer emerged victorious in Delta, Cross River, Edo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Anambra States.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said Obi won in the mentioned states as a result of the agitation for a South East presidency.

Governor Okowa also added that the former governor of Anamabra won in the Southern states because of religious and ethnic sentiments.

He admitted that the people exercised their rights in a democratic process and wanted Obi as a change but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not follow the Electoral Act.
