LP Crisis: Apapa's Thugs Almost Attack Us - Party Chairmen Fumes After Abuja Incident

The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has denied a claim that it is considering a political alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming governorship and State Assembly election in the state.

Recall that Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, had said the LP would consider available options to defeat the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the March 11 governorship elections in the state.

The elder statesman had said, “We shall consider all the options before us.”

Speaking with The Punch on Tuesday, Lagos LP spokesman, Olubunmi Odesanya, said the party is not considering joining forces with the PDP for the elections.

He said: “Labour Party is not considering any alliance with PDP.”

We’re Not Interested In Your Unity Govt Offer – LP Campaign Replies Tinubu

The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council (LP PCC) has rejected the call by the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to form a unity government.

Recall that Tinubu, in his acceptance speech on Wednesday, commended his opponents for the keenly-contested election and requested them to work with him for the development of the country.

But in a chat with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Chief Spokesman for the LP PCC, Yunusa Tanko, said the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will not be part of any unity government.

Tanko said that the LP was not interested in Tinubu’s offer, stressing that the party has resolved to head to the court for redress.

He said: “We said that we are going to court. We are not interested in discussing anything on the government of national unity. What we have so far resolved is to head to the court for redress.”
