Policeman Commits Suicide Over Wife's Extramarital Affair

A Kenyan police officer has reportedly killed himself after finding out about his wife’s infidelity.

The officer involved, Kiplagat Koskei, reportedly resides in Simat, a village in the Kapsaret sub-county, Uasin Gishu County of Kenya.

Naija News learnt that the officer and his wife have been having misunderstandings in their marriage, which often resulted in a squabble.

The deceased officer was reportedly attached to Eldoret central police station. Giving his testimony, Eldoret West police boss, Edward Masibo, told reporters that Koskei was a disciplined and hardworking officer.

“The officer had resorted to alcohol abuse after discovering that his wife had been unfaithful to him, and it is unfortunate that we lost him through such circumstances.

“Sometimes it is good to share one’s problems with others so that you can be assisted instead of resorting to taking your own life,” Masibo said.

Residents, who reportedly spoke with journalists, also affirmed that the deceased usually accused his wife of infidelity, which would often lead to physical fights.

“The officer has been having a misunderstanding with his estranged wife for a long time, which would often lead to a fistfight. We did not know it would also lead to the man committing suicide,” a neighbour told local reporters.

Naija News learnt that the corpse of the police officer had been transported from the scene of the crime to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
