The Federal High Court in Lagos will decide on Friday whether the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can employ the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, led by MC Oluomo, to distribute election materials in Lagos during the upcoming general elections.

Judge Chukwuejekwu Aneke set the date on Tuesday after hearing applicants’ counsel Abass Arisekola Ibrahim defend the lawsuit’s originating motion against MC Oluomo and INEC.

A lawsuit with the file number FHC/L/CS/271/2023 was brought by three political parties and their candidates for governor of Lagos State in a bid to prevent a collaboration between the MC Oluomo-led Lagos State Parks Management Committee and INEC.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), with its governorship candidate Funsho Doherty, and the Labour Party, with its governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, are the plaintiffs, while INEC is the respondent.

The judge on Monday granted the plaintiffs an interlocutory injunction to stop INEC from disseminating INEC materials in Lagos State through the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, led by MC Oluomo, a famous supporter of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Meanwhile, Naija News has reported that INEC in Lagos state had denied that it intends to use MC Oluomo and his group to distribute election materials for February 25 and March 11 elections.

Also, the INEC commissioner in the state, Olusegun Agbaje has said he was not aware that a lawsuit was served against the electoral body over the alleged MC Oluomo and INEC’s collaboration.
