Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford is reportedly negotiating a contract extension with the Premier League club amidst a new £300,000-Per Week salary cap.

Marcus Rashford has been on fire at Old Trafford after the Qatar World Cup. The 25-year-old English winger has scored at least a goal in all the games United played after the World Cup.

So far this season, the England international has scored 16 goals and provided 6 assists in 26 games in all competitions. This means that Rashford is currently the most prolific player at Old Trafford.

Before now, Marcus Rashford struggled under United’s last two coaches – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick to the extent that most pundits urged him to leave the club.

But now, he is enjoying a turnaround of form and he is currently one of coach Erik ten Hag’s most important players. Hence, Manchester United wants to compensate him with a new deal.

Note that Marcus Rashford’s current contract with United will expire on June 30, 2024.

Reports in Manchester confirmed that the Red Devils are determined to extend the footballer’s contract but some elements in the deal are making the negotiation a bit complicated.

One of the complications is the salary cap at Manchester United introduced by coach Erik ten Hag. The club has reportedly agreed that no player will earn more than £300,000 per week to prevent any form of jealousy in the dressing room among the players.

Marcus Rashford is reportedly earning £225,000 per week in line with his present contract, hence, he might want to earn above £300,000 in the coming phase of his football career.

This and many other factors which are yet to be made public are said to be a problem of the negotiation. But from all indications, Rashford is expected to remain at United beyond this season especially now that he is enjoying his game at the club.
