BREAKING: Suspended CBN Gov, Emefiele Charged To Court - DSS

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday reportedly grilled the Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The secret police also interrogated officials of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Abuja.

According to SaharaReporters, DSS operatives following their inability to arrest the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele took other top CBN and FIRS officials to their headquarters.

Sources that spoke with the platform disclosed that the officials “were hauled in a bus to the DSS headquarters where they were interrogated.”

A source revealed, “After Emefiele’s arrival, the DG of DSS ordered all the Deputy Governors of CBN and FIRS to appear before the DSS. They were hauled in a bus to the DSS headquarters where they were interrogated.

“They confessed that Emefiele had been asking KPMG, an accounting firm to be backdating audits after offering them a N600 million bribe. KPMG officials interrogated also confessed to this.”

Recall that the CBN Governor, Emefiele on Monday returned to Nigeria on Monday after his two weeks’ leave abroad ended.

Upon his arrival in the country, there had been speculations that the operatives of the DSS stormed CBN headquarters in Abuja to arrest Emefiele.

The report was, however, debunked by the spokesperson of the secret police, Peter Afunanya in a statement released on Monday.
