Antonio Conte Wants Others At Tottenham To Also Be Blamed For Poor Form

Tottenham’s manager, Antonio Conte, believes that he should not be held solely responsible for the team’s poor performance.

Antonio Conte, who left at least three elite clubs before he joined Tottenham over a season ago, stressed that other people at Tottenham should also be held accountable for the club’s poor run.

Spurs have lost five of their last nine league games after being trounced 2-0 by league-leaders Arsenal on Sunday.

They dropped to fifth place in the standings, five points behind Manchester United and Newcastle United, who both have games in hand.

Things have been so tough for Spurs that they have now collected only 10 points in their last 27 games. Amidst that, they will face reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on Thursday. The game will kick off at 21:00.

Ahead of the must-win Premier League game, Conte said: “In England, I think there’s a bad habit that it’s only the coach [who] talks and explains.

“I’ve never seen the medical department coming here to explain. I’ve never seen the club or the sporting director coming here to explain the strategy or vision of the club.

“In Italy, before every game, there’s a person from the club that goes to speak to the media.

“I think for us it could be really better, otherwise there is only one face to explain the situation that I think is better for the club to explain.”

The Italian tactician added: “I think it could be good for the club to be present in the media.

“Not every week, but at least every 15 days or once a month. I think it could be more simple for you to understand, otherwise, it can seem [as] if something is a criticism or negative and it’s not the case.”
